I didn't start with a strategy. I started with a small account, a lot of confidence I hadn't earned yet, and no real idea what I was doing. Like most people, I found trading looking exciting online, and I jumped in without asking the question that actually mattered: what happens when I'm wrong?

Revenge trading has a way of feeling completely rational in the moment and completely obvious in hindsight.

The turning point wasn't a big win. It was boring, honestly. I started writing down every single trade - not just the outcome, but why I took it, what I was feeling, whether I'd followed my own rules or made them up on the spot. Within a couple of weeks, the pattern was impossible to ignore: my losses weren't bad luck. They were bad process, repeated. That was uncomfortable to admit, but it was also the first useful thing I'd learned.

So I rebuilt from there. Fixed risk per trade, no exceptions. A stop-loss I actually respected instead of "moving it just this once." Fewer setups, but ones I could actually explain and defend. Progress wasn't dramatic - it was small, unglamorous, and it compounded slowly because I stopped giving it back every few weeks.
